ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE Each fall, Dalhousie University in Halifax announces the winner of the Sgt. Bruce MacPhail Award for Academic Excellence. The award is presented to the municipal police officer who, in the past academic year, has achieved the highest overall average in a concentration certificate at the University. Certificates earned can be in administration, supervisory skills, service delivery or law and justice. Staff Sergeant John Van Dyke from the South Simcoe Police was the recipient of this year’s award.
