(Innisfil, ON) On Monday, July 31, 2017, at 11:36 a.m., officers from the South Simcoe Police Service along with Innisfil Fire & Rescue and Simcoe County Paramedics were called to a motor vehicle collision at Sideroad 20 and Line 6 in Innisfil.
Officers learned that a KIA Soul was eastbound on Line 6 when it entered the intersection with 20 Sideroad, colliding with a southbound Toyota van. The KIA then entered the ditch on the southeast corner of the intersection, flipping onto its roof. The Toyota then collided with a northbound Ford pickup.
One occupant of the KIA, a 49 year old Toronto woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. A total of 5 other people were transported to area hospitals.
One other victim, also an occupant of the KIA, was later taken by ORNGE air ambulance to a Toronto Trauma Center. This victim, a 31 year old Toronto woman, succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday, August 1.
Investigators have ruled out alcohol as a factor in the collision. The investigation is continuing.
No names will be released.
Sideroad 20 was closed to traffic until 5:30 p.m.
