(Bradford, ON) On June 24, 2017, two men defrauded the Home Hardware in Bradford by slight of hand at the cashier's desk. A surveillance photo was widely shared on social media leading to several investigative leads. Later, a second occurrence at the No Frills store was also linked to the suspects. Through investigation and a cooperative investigation with several other police services, Detectives from the South Simcoe Police Service Criminal Investigation Bureau were able to identify the suspects.
On Thursday, June 27, 2017, a 24 year old Toronto man and a 30 year old Toronto man were arrested and jointly charged with two counts of Theft Under $5000 and one count of Fraud Under $5000. They will appear in a Bradford Court in August.
(Bradford, ON) On Saturday, July 29, 2017, a woman was assaulted by her husband during an argument at her home in Bradford. Afterwards, the victim drove to work and was sitting in her car crying when a York Regional Police officer saw her and came to her aid. She was urged to report the incident to South Simcoe Police Service.
After an investigation, a 53 year old Bradford man was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault. He will be residing elsewhere and has been ordered to avoid the victim while he awaits his August court date. The victim did not require medical attention.
(Bradford, ON) On Sunday, July 30, 2017, a woman called the South Simcoe Police Service to report an assault which had occurred that morning. Investigators learned that the woman was pinned down during an argument with her boyfriend. Officers attended the home and arrested a 47 year old Chatsworth man, charging him with Domestic Assault.
He was ordered to stay away from the victim and report to court in September. The victim did not require medical attention.
Drive Over 80 mgs
(Bradford, ON) On Sunday, July 30, 2017, just after midnight, a South Simcoe Police Service officer was patrolling downtown Bradford. He observed a vehicle driving the wrong way on a one way street and stopped and spoke to the driver. The odour of alcohol was noted on the driver's breath and a Roadside Screening Device Test resulted in a FAIL.
After further testing at the station, a 29 year old Newmarket man was charged with Drive Over 80 mgs. His driver's licence was suspended for 90 days. He will appear in court in September.
(Innisfil, ON) On Saturday, July 29, 2017, just before the lunch hour, a South Simcoe Police Service officer was called to the No Frills in Alcona. Store security had observed and arrested a woman for theft, after she was seen hiding items in her purse.
A 58 year old Innisfil woman will appear in court in September, charged with Theft Under $5000.
(Bradford, ON) On Friday, July 29, 2017, a suspect shoplifted from the 7-11 store in Bradford. South Simcoe Police Service officers arrived soon thereafter, but the suspect had fled prior to police arrival. On Saturday, July 30, 2017, the man returned to the store and police were notified.
The suspect was arrested and during a search, a number of weapons, including a stun gun and pepper spray, as well as a quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia were found. A 36 year old Bradford man was held in custody for bail, charged with 2 counts of Weapons Dangerous, 2 counts of Carrying a Concealed Weapon, 2 counts of Breach of a Weapons Prohibition, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Heroin), Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Hydromorphone), Possession of Heroin, Possession of Hydromorphone, and Possession of Stolen Property.
