The Community Services Unit has the responsibility of educating, informing and co-operating with the public. We have one Police Constable and two Special Constables assigned to Community Services.
PC Rob Enwright is our School Resource officer. Rob is tasked with patrolling our area high schools and interacting with the student community. He delivers education on web safety, drug safety, internet, and other topics that are important to our local youth.
Our two Special Constables work with the elementary schools, delivering the D.A.R.E. keepin’ it REAL curriculum (Define, Assess, Respond, Evaluate) to grade 5 students, providing enhanced tools for keeping youth safe and drug free .
They also help out with school bus safety patrollers, breakfast programs, and the ever popular Junior Chief for a Day contest.
In addition, our Community Services officers, in association with the schools, assist with the schools lockdown drills twice a year. The students are taught and drilled on how to take refuge in the school in an emergency situation.
This bureau offers the following services to area schools and the community at large:
- School Bus Safety
- School Safety Programs
- Bicycle Safety
- Drug and Alcohol Abuse Awareness
